Write three separate parts, but the thesis and outline are written on the same page. The works cited page is written on a separate page with a page break (not extra lines). Do NOT hit the enter key repeatedly to move to the next page!
Part 1 – Research Paper Thesis Statement: Your thesis will change during the writing process. The thesis may be more than one sentence, but it should not be an entire paragraph.
Don’t confuse the thesis with the introduction.
Part 2 – Research Paper Outline: Write an alphanumeric outline for the Research Paper and use only keywords and phrases — not complete sentences and paragraphs.
The best resource for learning how to write an alphanumeric outline without writing complete sentences is the Purdue University OWL. Click on this link to review guidelines for writing an outline with keywords and phrases instead of sentences and paragraphs.

Part 3 – References Page: Write a references page that includes at least three sources cited according to the APA Guidelines.
Your Module 3 assignment is a working thesis and outline. It will change as you work on the research project in Modules 4-6. You aren’t required to use this thesis or outline.
